"American Triptych" The artist Arturo Di Modica has sculpted each and every work by his own hand.
Born in Sicily, Italy in 1941, Arturo started to make sculptures when he was a teenager. In 1960, Arturo left Sicily and his family to attend a well known academy for talented and aspiring artists Florence's Academia Del Nudo Libero. He worked principally in bronze and other metals and frequently traveled to create his own sculptures.
In 1973, Arturo decided to come to America especially in New York City to live and work. Although many awards, exhibitions or hundreds of collectors acquired his works, his main passion was doing something for the people and his love of the United States. In 1977, he exhibited at Rockefeller Center, Castle Clinton and Battery Park and few years later, one of his famous sculpture "Horse Cavallo" was exhibited in Lincoln Center.
In 1989, his masterpiece bronze "Charging Bull" competed which has stood in Wall Street where New York City was founded at Bowling Green. The purpose of work in "Charging Bull" was to give strength and power to the American people for 1987's stock market crash. Soon the work became a symbol of "Strength and Power" and attracts many tourists to NYC until now.
